Minimum Requirement

  • Five years of post-apprenticeship experience maintaining mining heavy equipment

  • Experience in Network/Cisco, Motorola Moto TRBO and/or P25 Radio experience, and module mining dispatch.

  • A valid Alberta Journeyperson Electronic Technician (Radio Technician) or Electronics Technology certification from an accredited Technical College; attach your Journeyperson or red seal tickets with your application to be considered

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Key Accountabilities:

  • Programing and installation of Dispatch hardware including communication components (panel, hub, WiFi radio and antennas) for heavy equipment (approx. 321) and Lube Islands (x5)

  • Installation of Dispatch GPS antennas in heavy equipment including installation of ProVision systems in shovels (PV3)

  • Support for Mobile Towers / Trailers – configuration, relocation, rigging and installation throughout the active mine 

  • Support for approx. 321 pieces of heavy equipment – field hardware, including ~40 Tailings dozers

  • Field support for GPS Ground Station for staffed operation

  • Field support for AHS (Automatous Haulage System) – relocation of solar trailers / 106’ mobile towers

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of a Base Plant Mine location in Fort McMurray, Alberta

  • The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)

  • You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces 

  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. To learn more about living and working in Fort McMurray, click here
