Pay Range: $27.60

SUMMARY:

The operator in a standing position around a waist-high table. Using there hands and forearms, they pull the top quilt seam to match up with the side panel seam while the sewing machine stiches a one-inchband around the outer perimeter of the mattress. While walking backwards around the table, the operator controls the sewing machine movement by using their right leg to press the control.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Moves the mattress on and off table for sewing.
• Operates sewing machine including feeding materials into sewing machine is moved around the mattress.
• Re-threads sewing machine as needed. Ensures quality standards are maintained.
• Corrects any defective taping on mattresses.
• Changes the needle and binding tape for the sewing machine as needed.
• Maintains clean work area and follows proper safety procedures.
• Sweeps floors as needed
• Makes any necessary sewing machine adjustments and handles basic maintenance of machine such as lubrication.
• Must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactory.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Continuous walking and standing (standing at workstation, walking short distances around workstations)
• Continuous repetitive use of hands/arms to pull edges together and feed them into the machine.
• Continuous grasping of boarder that panel edges while feeding the machine.
• Continuous repetitive use of the right leg to operate the control panel.
• Frequent handling (pushing/pulling) of mattresses on worktable and from workstation to conveyor.
• Occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Occasional fine manipulation to reload/string the machine.
