Position Summary

The Designer is responsible for crafting comprehensive AVL system designs and associated construction and functional drawings to ensure a fully working system that meets the customer's needs. You will work within various software products to assemble design documents, update quotes, and generate renderings that communicate design intent across all stages of the project. You will be coordinating with construction teams (Architects, General Contractors, Structural Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Electrical Engineers) and clients to translate ministry goals into technical reality.


Responsibilities


Design

  • Design fully functioning systems, including equipment selection and modeling to meet specific client needs.
  • Perform technical calculations including electrical/heat loads, rigging weights, and assembly requirements.
  • Model various systems using specialized software tools.
  • Translate design information into project drawings for seamless communication with other trades.
  • Coordinate details with the internal team: Project Developer, Project Engineer, Sales Engineer, and Drafter. A supporting designer may also be assigned.


Project Documentation

  • Assemble comprehensive design documents, update quotes, and generate renderings.
  • Create detailed construction and functional drawings.
  • Maintain technical accuracy from initial concept through the final hand-off to the Project and Field Engineering teams.


Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with the Amplio project team: Project Developer, Project Manager, Project Engineer, Sales Engineer, and Drafter. A supporting designer may also be assigned.
  • Interface with clients to understand and refine technical requirements.
  • Partner with external stakeholders such as Architects and Engineers to ensure AVL integration is synchronized with broader construction plans.
  • Support the broader Amplio team in the preparation of materials for sales, installation, and long-term support.


Qualifications

  • Proven track record designing and overseeing multiple $2M+ large-scale AVL projects.
  • 3-5+ years of professional audio, video, lighting systems design experience.
  • Proficiency with industry tools: BIM Software (Revit/Vectorworks), AutoCAD, D-Tools, SketchUp, and Excel.
  • Experience with modeling software: Manufacturer’s speaker modeling software and Dialux.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills: Ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to thrive with concurrent projects and tasks.


Travel Expectations

  • Working remotely day to day.
  • 10-15 days of travel per year for project sites, all staff gatherings, trade shows, etc.
