About the Role
This Production Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating the production workflow across departments to ensure timely delivery and efficient use of resources. The role works closely with operations, procurement, and sales to align production plans with material availability and customer demand. Success in this role requires strong coordination skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains short- and long-term production schedules based on sales forecasts, material availability, and plant capacity.
- Collaborates daily with operations, procurement, logistics, and sales to ensure alignment of production priorities with material availability and customer demand.
- Monitors real-time production progress, identifies deviations from the plan, and adjusts schedules proactively to accommodate equipment downtime, material delays, or urgent customer orders.
- Reviews and interprets production specifications, work orders, and inventory reports to create accurate and efficient plans that maximize throughput and minimize downtime.
- Communicates production schedules, changes, and priorities to relevant departments to ensure all stakeholders are aligned and informed.
- Tracks inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods, coordinating replenishment with the procurement and warehouse teams to avoid stockouts or overages.
- Maintains accurate records in ERP systems by entering and updating data related to production schedules, materials, and completed work.
- Participates in cross-functional meetings and improvement projects to enhance planning processes, material flow, and overall plant efficiency.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain coordination within a manufacturing or chemical environment.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, raw material management, and quality control procedures.
- Experience working in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms); capable of extracting and analyzing production and inventory data.
- Background in oil and gas, chemical manufacturing, or industrial operations preferred.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and influencing decision-making without direct authority.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- APICS or other supply chain/planning certifications (CPIM, CSCP) are preferred.

Physical Requirements
This role requires a combination of office and production floor activity. The individual must be able to sit or stand for extended periods, walk through production areas, and occasionally bend, reach, or lift light materials up to twenty-five (25) lbs. Frequent use of a computer and other office equipment is required. Visual acuity is necessary for reading data, reports, and inputting information into systems.
Work Conditions
The work environment includes both office and manufacturing settings. Time will be split between a standard office environment and production areas where exposure to noise, fumes, and temperature fluctuations may occur. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required. The role may involve occasional exposure to confined spaces or elevated work areas, in accordance with safety protocols. Standard work hours apply, with occasional flexibility based on production needs.
