Summer Camp 2026: Medication Manager

Job Description

The Medication Manager is responsible for managing all camper medication. When not dealing with camper medication, the medication manager will be asked to support other aspects of camp. When necessary, this will involve helping our camp nurse with any campers who are not feeling well. This includes (but is not limited to) helping with the movement of campers, supporting activities, and general oversight of campers. 

English Adventure runs summer camps with about 130-150 campers per session. Campers often come to camp with prescription and non-prescription medication, which we are often responsible for administering. A very high level of Japanese speaking and reading ability is required to do this role. 

We are seeking hard-working, fun, and energetic English-speaking staff of any nationality.

English Adventure is a 100% nonsmoking workplace.

Main Areas of Responsibility

• Collect and manage camper medication at check-in from parents
• Filing of medication at camp
• Administer camper medication as needed throughout camp 
• Track and keep records of all medication administered
• Assist camp nurse with returning campers to activities after nurse visits
  
• Assist in other camp activities as directed by camp managers 
  
• Spend time with and deliver meals to campers who have to miss an activity block 

Basic qualifications

• Age 18 or older
• Available for all training and all camp days. Please check job descriptions for further details.
• Native or fluent in spoken and written Japanese (JLPT N2-N1; being able to read kanji is a must)
• Works well with children
• Conversational English ability
• Proactive and works well in a team

Pluses, but not requirements: 

• Current Wilderness CPR/First Aid certification
• Basic CPR/First Aid certification

Summer Camp 2026 Schedule

• Onsite Training: July 17-20  (departure from Tokyo to the campsite on July 16 evening and return to Tokyo station on July 20)
• Camp Sessions 1-8: July 22 - August 23 
  

Odd Session Dates

Session 1: July 22 - 26

Session 3: July 30 - August 3

Session 5: August 7 - 11

Session 7: August 15 - 19

Even Session Dates

Session 2: July 26 - 30

Session 4: August 3 - 7

Session 6: August 11 -15

Session 8: August 19 - 23

• Remuneration: 10,000 yen per camp day and training day
• Reimbursement of transportation expenses from Tokyo to the campsite provided. We will depart and return to Tokyo station with campers on the first and last day of each session. In general, Medication Managers work all of the odd or even sessions. 
  

Staff Training

English Adventure will provide training, paid at a reduced rate, prior to each camp. Attendance is mandatory for all staff. Our professional training is designed to make camps run smoothly, ensure the safety of our campers and staff, and will ensure you have the confidence necessary to have a great experience throughout the summer. We will also have staff complete a basic online first-aid course to help prepare for staff training. 

Visa Permissions

For domestic staff, if you hold a visa that requires special separate permission to work from Immigration (Instructor visa, Student visa and Dependent visa), please understand that you should obtain that before applying.
