This is a new Role for 2026!

Do you love sharing the magic of the natural world with kids?

We’re looking for a Nature Education Specialist to help campers discover the forest in fun, hands-on ways. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys teaching outdoors, creating engaging activities, and helping young people develop curiosity about the natural environment.

Our Nature Education Specialist will design and lead interactive nature experiences—everything from forest ecology games and wildlife discovery to hands-on exploration and outdoor learning activities.

You’ll spend most of your days outdoors with campers, rain or shine, exploring the forests around camp and helping kids connect with nature in meaningful ways.

About the Nature Education Program

Your curriculum should be:

• Age-appropriate for campers ages 6–14
• Flexible for ESL learners as well as native English speakers
• Designed for a multi-year camp program where returning campers may participate again
• Clearly documented so future staff can continue using and improving it
  

Japanese ability is not a requirement as our Challenge Camp Team Leaders have Japanese ability and will be accompanying their campers to activities. However, experience working with children who are learning English as a second language is a bonus. Any wilderness first aid training is also a bonus. The Nature Education Specialist will work three out of every four days throughout the camp season. Outside of the Activity sessions, Activity Leaders may also be assigned to support camp operations in the morning and evening, 

We are seeking hard-working, fun, and energetic English-speaking staff of any nationality.

Summer work flow

Before Camp (June)

• Design a Nature Education curriculum for our summer program
• Create activities and lessons that can be used with multiple age groups
• Develop clear lesson plans so other staff can also deliver the program
  
  

During Camp ( Mid July–August)

• Lead engaging nature education sessions with campers
• Support and guide other staff members delivering the curriculum
• Adapt activities for different ages, group sizes, and English ability levels
• Help create a positive, energetic outdoor learning environment
  
  

You may also be asked to provide general outdoor education insights or support to the camp leadership team when needed.

Basic qualifications

We’re especially interested in candidates who have:

• Experience in nature education, environmental education, outdoor education, or ecology
• Experience working with children or youth
• The ability to make learning fun, interactive, and accessible
• Confidence leading large groups outdoors
• A love for being outside in all weather
  
  

Bonus skills

• • Experience teaching English language learners
  • Wilderness First Aid / Outdoor safety training
  • Background in biology, ecology, forestry, environmental science, or similar

Dates: June – August (3 months)

Remuneration: (from 250,000JPY per month, based on experience and relevant qualifications)

Accommodation: Housing provided at our camp facility for the duration of your stay. During camp sessions you may share a room with other staff.

Meals: Meals provided during training and camp sessions throughout July and August.

Transportation: Access to a camp vehicle beginning June 1. Once camp begins, the vehicle will move into the camp fleet but will remain available for use.

Location: Tsunan, Niigata

Staff Training

English Adventure will provide training prior to each camp. Attendance is mandatory for all staff. Our professional training is designed to make camps run smoothly, ensure the safety of our campers and staff, and will ensure you have the confidence necessary to have a great experience throughout the summer. We will also have staff complete a basic online first-aid course to help prepare for staff training.
