About this role

About Us:

The Medical Library provides evidence-based and consumer health information to the hospital’s physicians, administration, and staff and to the hospital patients’ and families to ensure the children of Central California will receive high quality health care. The Library’s collection consists of more than 1,400 medical journals, in print and electronic formats, approximately 50% of which focus on pediatrics and childhood diseases. There is also a large collection of print and e-books on key pediatric topics, medical books, and core clinical pediatric textbooks. To serve the needs of all hospital and medical staff, the Library will borrow material which it does not own from other libraries.

Located on our main hospital campus in Madera, the Family Resource Center provides hospital patients and families with access to a wide variety of consumer health websites about child health and well-being.

Through our Literacy Program, George's Book Club, the Library staff coordinate the donation of books and funds, to enable the distribution of new books to every child who wants one, who is seen within the Valley Children's Healthcare system.

This Medical Library is ideal for those who excel at obtaining detailed, high-quality information for healthcare providers, and for those who are passionate about childhood literacy.
