Season Dates: 6-Month Seasonal Position
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Schedule: 30 hours per week (may include evenings and weekends based on park usage and events)

We’re seeking a responsible, reliable, and proactive individual to serve as a Park Maintenance for the City of Alton. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining public spaces, and can ensure park operations run smoothly for the community.
Position Overview:
As a Park Supervisor, you will be responsible for the daily opening and closing of parks, ensuring facilities are safe, clean, and fully operational. You will oversee park readiness for sporting events, monitor park grounds and buildings, and provide support for community activities, including events at the amphitheater.
You will work closely with the Parks and Recreation Department and Public Works to maintain high standards across all park facilities.
Duties May Include:
- Opening and closing parks daily, including securing all facilities
- Turning park lights on/off as needed for evening activities and events
- Inspecting athletic fields for scheduled sporting events
- Ensuring parks are event-ready, including setup and basic coordination
- Monitoring park grounds for safety, cleanliness, and proper use
- Inspecting buildings and restrooms; ensuring cleanliness and reporting maintenance needs
- Checking and securing park structures, including shelters and common areas
- Providing assistance with amphitheater operations, including event support as needed
- Responding to public questions and providing general assistance to park visitors
- Reporting hazards, damages, or maintenance concerns promptly
- Assisting maintenance crews or other departments when necessary
Qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks
- Strong sense of responsibility and ability to work independently
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Dependable, punctual, and attentive to detail
- Previous experience in parks, recreation, or maintenance is a plus
