As a Diesel Mechanic - Experienced (Service Tech IV), you’ll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs of complex equipment with limited or no supervision in a highly skilled, safe, and professional manner. What you'll do:

  • Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment

  • When required, travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner

  • Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed

  • Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis

  • Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts

  • Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

  • 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools

  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools

  • Extensive knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams

  • Must own tools applicable to position

  • Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills

  • Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

  • Assurer l’entretien et la rĂ©paration de systèmes mĂ©caniques, Ă©lectriques, hydrauliques et diesel complexes sur une vaste gamme d’outils et d’équipements de location ou de clients, tout en faisant preuve d’une grande indĂ©pendance de jugement.

  • Au besoin, se rendre sur le lieu de travail du client pour rĂ©parer ou entretenir son matĂ©riel ou celui qu’il a louĂ© (vous serez chargĂ© de veiller Ă  la propretĂ© et au caractère prĂ©sentable du vĂ©hicule de service).

  • Participer Ă  la formation des techniciens subalternes, au besoin.

  • Tenir Ă  jour la documentation Ă©crite ou Ă©lectronique associĂ©e aux travaux effectuĂ©s (bons de travail) de manière exhaustive chaque jour dans les dĂ©lais prescrits.

  • Participer au ramassage et Ă  la livraison des Ă©quipements et des pièces.

  • RĂ©aliser les autres tâches demandĂ©es en fonction des besoins.

Exigences du poste :

  • DiplĂ´me d’études secondaires ou Ă©quivalent.

  • Permis de conduire valide assorti d’un dossier de conduite jugĂ© acceptable.

  • ExpĂ©rience de plus de cinq ans en rĂ©paration ou en entretien d’équipements et d’outils.

  • CompĂ©tences avancĂ©es en mĂ©canique et connaissance pratique des outils.

  • Advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams

  • Advanced diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic and other systems

  • Ability to diagnose and repair all equipment in rental tool fleet appropriately utilizing schematics and diagnostic programs without supervision

  • As assigned supervise, train and organize the work duties of other technicians in the department

  • Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed

  • When required travel to customer site for repair/maintenance of rental or owned equipment

What you'll do:

  • Using high degree of independent judgment, perform safe maintenance and repairs on a variety of complex rental equipment, tools and vehicles at branch or customer locations involving mechanical, electrical systems

  • Diagnose and repair all equipment in the rental fleet without supervision utilizing schematics and diagnostic programs

  • As directed by managers, supervise and organize the training and work duties of other technicians in the department

  • Maintain paperwork and the electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner

  • Record preventative and ready inspection completion

  • Document parts and labor accurately

  • When required travel to customer site for repair/maintenance of rental or owned equipment

  • When traveling to a customer site for repair or maintenance of rental or owned equipment, maintain a service vehicle in a clean and professional manner

  • Assist in the pick up and delivery of equipment and parts to and from outside vendors and other United Rentals, Inc. locations for purchases or repairs

  • When necessary and without supervision, accurately order needed parts using reference material as required; communicate with all necessary vendors and suppliers

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, verbally and in writing, to complete assigned tasks

  • Coach and mentor less experienced Service Technicians and assist peers in developing better diagnostic skills

  • Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Trade school training preferred

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

  • 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools
