About Our Team

The Washington Post’s Content Licensing team is responsible for expanding the reach and monetization of The Washington Post’s journalism through strategic licensing, distribution, and enterprise partnerships. Our partners include leading publishers, business intelligence platforms, media monitoring organizations, financial services firms, AI/data companies, and global distribution platforms.

The team works cross-functionally across Product, Engineering, Editorial, Finance, Legal, PR/Communications, and Sales to support recurring revenue growth, international expansion, and emerging AI/data licensing opportunities.

The Washington Post is seeking a Strategic Client Partner to help accelerate growth across its global content licensing business. This role is responsible for developing and managing strategic partnerships across assigned geographies and verticals, identifying new revenue opportunities, expanding enterprise relationships, and supporting the continued evolution of The Washington Post’s licensing strategy.

This position plays a key role in driving international expansion, AI/data licensing partnerships, enterprise platform relationships, and multimedia licensing opportunities. The ideal candidate is consultative, entrepreneurial, relationship-oriented, and comfortable navigating complex enterprise sales cycles across multiple industries and regions.

How You’ll Support The Mission

  • Develop and execute strategic outreach plans across assigned geographies and business verticals to drive recurring licensing revenue growth.

  • Identify, prospect, and engage senior decision-makers across media, AI/data, financial services, business intelligence, distribution, and enterprise technology sectors.

  • Lead consultative sales cycles from discovery through negotiation, contracting, and onboarding coordination.

  • Build and maintain strong executive-level relationships with strategic partners and prospective clients.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Product, Engineering, Editorial, Finance, and PR/Communications teams to support complex partnership opportunities.

  • Manage pipeline visibility, opportunity tracking, forecasting, and account activity within Salesforce.

  • Support renewal and expansion discussions within assigned strategic accounts.

  • Represent The Washington Post at industry conferences, networking events, and strategic partner meetings.

  • Monitor emerging industry trends, competitive activity, and evolving AI/data licensing opportunities to support business growth.

The Skills and Experience You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise sales, strategic partnerships, licensing, media, business intelligence, SaaS, data, or related industries.

  • Proven track record of driving new business development and managing complex consultative sales cycles.

  • Strong relationship-building and executive communication skills.

  • Experience navigating multi-stakeholder enterprise negotiations and extended sales cycles (3-12M).

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic thinking capabilities.

  • Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities across regions and industries.

  • Interest in media, AI/data licensing, enterprise partnerships, and emerging technology ecosystems.

  • International business development experience preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
