About this role

The Wesleyan University Health Services department includes the Davison Health Center, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and WesWell (Health Education). The Davison Health Center provides a wide range of clinical services focused on the treatment of illnesses and injuries, as well as wellness and disease prevention. The Health Center provides medical care to approximately 50+ students a day with an average of 6,500 visits in an academic year. Services are available six days per week while classes are in session.

Reporting to the Lead Clinician, this position provides direct patient care through assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic medical conditions. Responsibilities include primary care, urgent care, gynecological care, preventive care, and minor office procedures for a diverse student population. The clinician collaborates with the Medical Director, Lead Clinician, and clinical team to support high-quality, student-centered care.

This is a 0.75 FTE, 9-month academic year, on-campus position with required Saturday clinic coverage as scheduled during the academic year. Salary is annualized and paid over 12 months.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions for a diverse student population.

  • Prescribe medications, order diagnostic testing, interpret results, and make referrals as clinically appropriate.

  • Provide patient education related to medical conditions, treatment plans, preventive care, and wellness promotion.

  • Provide clinical consultation and support to nursing staff and other clinical team members as appropriate.

  • Support compliance with applicable accreditation standards and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies and participate in activities supporting ongoing licensure and accreditation compliance.

  • Participate in chart review, peer review, and quality improvement activities to support quality patient care.

  • Support implementation of clinical policies, procedures, and campus health communication initiatives.

  • Participate in review and maintenance of clinical protocols, standing orders, triage procedures, and nurse-led clinic workflows.

  • Maintain required licensure, certifications, clinical competencies, and continuing professional education.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Connecticut licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Associate.

  • Must hold or be eligible for Connecticut DEA licensure and Controlled Substance Registration licensure.

  • Minimum of five years of experience providing direct patient care.

  • Demonstrated experience assessing, diagnosing, and treating acute and chronic medical conditions in an outpatient or ambulatory care setting.

  • Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and work independently within scope of practice.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare environment.

  • Experience using electronic health record systems and clinical documentation platforms.

  • Experience participating in clinical protocols, standing orders, or workflow processes in a healthcare setting.

  • Experience supporting clinical quality, compliance, or regulatory standards in an outpatient or ambulatory healthcare setting.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with diverse patient populations and colleagues.

  • Demonstrated commitment to professional, ethical, and legal standards of clinical practice.

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive healthcare practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing healthcare services to college-aged populations, including awareness of student mental health concerns and developmental needs.

  • Experience working in a college or university health setting.

  • Experience providing urgent care, primary care, and/or women’s health services.

  • Experience addressing the health and mental health concerns of college-aged populations, including crisis assessment, substance use concerns, sexual health, and health promotion.

  • Familiarity with public health guidance and communicable disease management in a campus setting.

  • Experience participating in quality improvement initiatives, chart review, or clinical protocol development preferred.

Compensation: $84,825-$111,543
