As an Engineer III, Sr., you will conduct technical and economic evaluations, performance testing, design and construction of new and existing facilities, and research on new developments, applying your strong understanding of industry and operational requirements. Taking initiative and anticipating customer needs will make you a stand-out player. Day in the Life: As a Regulatory Compliance Engineer, you will be responsible for providing regulatory compliance support for operations, engineering and projects that occur in your defined support area. Some of those activities include:

  • Coordinating with state and federal regulators to facilitate DOT PHMSA / State Agency inspections Engaging with projects to perform design reviews to ensure DOT 192 / 195 compliance

  • Completes regulatory DOT 192 / 195 Assurance through internal audits and acquisition integration Reviewing forms and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations

  • Coordinates accident notifications to National Response Center and completes PHMSA accident reporting

  • Researches regulatory interpretations and identification of possible impacts to the organization

  • Researches DOT rule-making and state rule-making for incorporations into applicable procedures

Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Accounts for a diverse range of sophisticated assignments requiring the use of experience, innovation and judgment

  • May supervise the work of others

  • Demonstrates technical expertise in a specialty, geographic area, or operational function and applies specialized knowledge in the effective completion of large-scope projects

  • Prepares and delivers presentations

  • Anticipates internal/external customer needs; assesses requirements and identifies solutions

  • Interprets internal/external business challenges and improves products, processes or services

  • Collaborates with teams to ensure compliance, build improvement plans and meet training needs

  • Champions processes, procedures and safety standards

  • Monitors and controls costs and resources associated with projects

  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Years of Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering field from an accredited college or university, OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology in a relevant field with Professional Engineer (P.E.) license; A minimum eight (8) years of multifaceted engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and minimum seven (7) years of progressive engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry and PE Certification

  • Required: Multiple years of experience leading interactions, primarily inspections, with PHMSA or state pipeline safety agencies covering pipeline safety regulations (49 CFR Parts 192 and/or 195). Additionally outside of leading interaction, comprehensive understanding of regulations and ability to interpret and revise applicable company procedures as regulations change overtime

Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as a main priority

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Application and PC skills

  • Proficiency in engineering specialties covering more than one subject area

  • Preferred: Project Management experience

  • Minimum of 25% travel sometimes with minimal notice
