Billing Specialist
About this role
We are currently recruiting for a Billing Specialist with at least 3 years of practical billing experience in a legal setting. This is a permanent and full-time position, hours will be Monday through Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm. JOB FUNCTION
The Billing Specialist ensures timely and accurate processing of the Firm’s monthly client bills. The Billing Specialist demonstrates knowledge of legal billing procedure, great attention to detail, a proactive approach to problem identification and a strong analytical ability. Their communication skills positively impact our internal and client relationships.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in all aspects of the billing process including:
- Review WIP
- Applies write-offs and write-downs and trust funds as directed
- Invoice generation and finalization
- E-billing
- Client invoice delivery based on client specific instructions
- Has a clear understanding of time entry and billing protocols for the firm
- Able to identify and raise potential billing issues
- Clear and professional client communications
- Ad hoc projects for the accounting team as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 3+ years of previous work experience as a billing clerk or specialist
- Experience in a legal setting
- Graduation from a post-secondary program or degree, in accounting or relevant field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Proficiency in various accounting and billing software, experience with Acumin considered an asset
- Computer savvy and able to learn various computer programs quickly
- Excellent client service skills (external and internal) and ability to develop positive and collaborative relationships
- Thrives by working in a team environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Attention to detail and ability to quickly identify problems and provide solutions
