Job Summary:

The Control Systems Integrator will lead the programming, integration, and commissioning of process control systems and SCADA platforms for municipal water/wastewater facilities while also contributing to design efforts as project demands require. You will translate engineering designs into fully functional, operator-friendly automation systems and work closely with engineers and clients throughout the project lifecycle in a results-focused, team-based setting.


Responsibilities:

  • Program, integrate, and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and collection/distribution infrastructure within project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Using company standards, develop robust PLC logic, intuitive HMI graphics, and SCADA applications that reflect client-specific process needs and deliver clear, real-time operational visibility.
  • Collaborate with Electrical and Controls Engineers to produce or refine project deliverables, including P&IDs, instrumentation plans, control panel shop drawings, network diagrams, process control strategies, and detailed specifications.
  • Review equipment submittals and data sheets to ensure technical compliance and suitability.
  • Lead on-site activities such as Industrial Control Panel factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), full system commissioning, startup, and operator training.
  • Evaluate existing client facilities, document current control infrastructure, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Perform control system design duties as needed to support team workload and project delivery.
  • Prepare clear, maintainable integration project documentation that meets company and client standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related Engineering or related Controls and Automation Technology field.
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming and controls integration, preferably in water/wastewater or similar industrial/municipal environments. With extensive portfolio showing project ownership from conception to final commissioning.
  • International Society of Automation (ISA) Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) Level 1 or higher, or equivalent professional certification.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation PLC platforms and Inductive Automation’s Ignition SCADA platform (strongly preferred).
  • Solid experience with industrial networking and security, communications protocols, and UL 508A/698A guidelines for industrial control panels.
  • Proven ability to manage personal workload consisting of multiple simultaneous projects with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Effective decision-making and collaboration skills to resolve complex technical issues with engineers, clients, and contractors.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites for commissioning and startup activities.
