    Position Summary:

    This position is based out of our Farmington, CT office and will report to Director of Quality Control & Compliance. This person is detail oriented and can help provide solutions to concerns while onsite. The QC Engineer will provide support to the Project Teams for Preparatory Meetings, Initial Inspections, Follow Up Inspections, and Mock-Ups. It is expected that this position will have frequent travel for various needs. This includes a mix of driving and some air travel 4 days per week, as far as the west coast for some construction projects with the understanding that driving is an essential part of this role. Travel to projects 3-4 days of the week. Majority of travel is CT, NJ, and NY. Limited travel to the West Coast. We will compensate for travel.



    Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

    • Assists the Director of QC and Compliance
    • Supports all KBE Companies offices, KBE-NE and KBE-West
    • Work to create a QC mentality throughout all project team members with the goal of reducing rework and warranty calls/costs.
    • Generates QC reports from site visits and follows up with Project Team
    • Follows up on all QC Observation Reports they generate or those generated by the Director of QC and Compliance
    • Champions the use of ProjectSight by KBE Field Teams and Subcontractors to help minimize non-compliance.
    • Creates project specific QC Plans that include both the specified and KBE required Mock-Ups, Pre-Installation Meetings/ Preparatory Meeting, and Initial Inspections
    • Confirms compliance with project specific QC Plans and updates the QC Plan Status Report for all projects each month.
    • Assists with organizing and facilitating Preparatory Meetings, Initial Inspections, and Follow-Up Inspections.
    • Assists in the planning, installation, and approval of Mock-Ups
    • Creates product or assembly specific checklists in ProjectSight as needed for their use and for the use of project teams.
    • Stops work if anything is not per the current contract documents, approved submittal, approved mock-up, not acceptable from a quality standpoint and/or unsafe and notify PM, Superintendent, and Director of QC & Compliance.
    • Uploads AEI Non-Compliance issues to ProjectSight and follows up with Project Team until complete
    • Assists with the creation of Corrective Action Plans for non-compliant work as needed.
    • Creates RFI’s within projects as directed by the Director of QC and Compliance as needed.
    • When available, assists Project Teams with the creation and/or management of Completion Lists, Pre-Final Punch Lists, and Final Punch Lists.
    • Routinely follows up, in person, by phone, and email, with Project Manager, Project Engineers, Superintendents to ensure QC concerns are addressed
    • Stays current with new construction products, techniques, and revisions to commonly used manufacturer’s installation instructions. Paying particular attention to Building Envelope
    • Attends any training necessary to keep up with industry standards.
    • Clearly communicating technical concepts, in spoken and written form, to technical and non-technical audiences
    • Prioritizes and manages time to complete tasks efficiently and effectively and with minimal supervision
    • Understands and enforces safety requirements
    • All other duties as assigned
    • Fills in for Superintendent when needed


    Construction Scheduling experience is a plus (P6, or Microsoft Project)

    Education/Qualifications:

    Candidate must have a valid state driver license and clean driving record, as well as a reliable car. 


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management, preferred
    • Knowledge and experience reading and interpreting construction documents.
    • Ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with others
    • A strong sense of urgency
    • Flexibility and ability to juggle multiple projects
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors Certificate
    • Experience with cloud-based construction management software, such as ProjectSight, BIM 360, ProCore, and Viewpoint experience a plus 
    • Familiarity with hardware such as Apple iPads, iPhones, AppleTV
