About this role

The role – Risk and Security Manager

 

Purpose of the Job 

The Risk and Security Manager is responsible for:

  • The Centre operations, assets, and risk management both during and outside of Centre trading hours
  • Working with the Centre Management Team to promote positive Risk and Security Management (RSM) behaviour, minimise Centre risks and ensure compliance with Risk Management policies and procedures.

Outcomes I am responsible for

  • Ensure compliance with H&S, building standards, and relevant legislation for a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Identify and manage risks, implementing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Conduct contractor inductions and regular H&S audits.
  • Review and update Emergency Plan and Business Continuity Plan with Stride plans.
  • Maintain and communicate Stride H&S procedures, manage contractor and retailer compliance, and provide employee training.
  • Manage insurance claims.
  • Report H&S performance to the Centre Manager for analysis of performance and compliance.
  • Take and record H&S meeting minutes; file compliance documentation.
  • Record and investigate incidents with staff, contractors, tenants, and Head Office.
  • Review contractor H&S documentation (SWIMS/JSA) for shopping centre works.
  • Assist Facilities Manager with maintenance works to ensure building integrity and standards.
  • Maintain procedural documentation, including Tenancy Manual and H&S/Emergency Procedures Manual.
  • Assist with annual budget process from a risk perspective.
  • Manage the Health and Safety budget.
  • Issue and process purchase orders and invoices for out-of-contract work.
  • Collaborate with tenants and contractors for compliance work to meet regulations.
  • Negotiate and manage the security contract and onsite security team; review security reports and handle incidents.
  • Coordinate fire evacuation processes and duty management training.
  • Promote a Risk and Security management culture and participate in policy and procedure development.

Outcomes I am responsible for

  • Walking the Centre daily with the Facilities Manager to ensure presentation standards are met and maintained.
  • Managing partnerships with key contractors and service providers
  • Managing a close relationship with the local police
  • Managing a close relationship via daily meetings with the relevant Centre Security Contractor
  • Managing risk through identification of potential hazards and swift mitigation and long-term solutions
  • Liaising with retailers to ensure understanding of and compliance with Risk and Health and Safety standards
  • Delivering timely and accurate reporting on Health and Safety performance and compliance
  • Developing collaborative relationships with the key members of Centre Management, Retailers, Security, Cleaners and the Customer Services Team to achieve desired outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Health and Safety, Risk Management or Security experience or training with a minimum of three or more years of applicable work experience.

  • Budget responsibility - Ensuring optimum use of the Security budget and delivering the best possible results within this budget
  • Location - Queensgate Shopping Centre
  • Contact - You will be available out of normal works hours for incidents or emergencies and support the Centre Management Team, Security team and our relevant Centre Contractors and Retailers.
