(12-Month fixed-term parental leave cover or a secondment opportunity)

The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) is a highly specialised government department whose mission is to disrupt and deter serious fraud and corruption in New Zealand. We have a proud history of investigating and prosecuting some of the country’s most significant and complex financial crimes to protect New Zealand’s economic wellbeing and preserve our global reputation as a safe place to do business.

Our talented team includes lawyers, forensic accountants, investigators, electronic forensic specialists, counter-fraud experts, and policy professionals. Supported by a dedicated corporate services group, our close-knit team of eighty is united by a strong sense of justice and a vibrant, collaborative culture.

About the role

The SFO seeks a highly accomplished people leader to join our senior leadership team as Manager Corporate Services and Finance.

This is an excellent opportunity to advance your leadership career, shape organisational strategy, and broaden your experience in the public service. We welcome applicants seeking a secondment from other agencies, as well as those looking to step up from senior roles in finance, corporate, or legal functions.

This role is preferably based in Commercial Bay, Auckland CBD; however, we will also consider Wellington based applicants. This role is parental leave cover for a 12-month fixed-term contract, or it can be offered as a secondment opportunity for suitably qualified candidates. In this role, you will report to the Deputy Chief Executive Legal and Corporate and lead our Finance, People and Culture, and ICT teams.

As a member of the SFO’s Senior Leadership Team, you’ll help drive the SFO’s strategic priorities, build cross-agency relationships, and support our approach to risk, security, and safety. You’ll lend your expertise to major projects, shape financial sustainability, and champion a culture of excellence and collaboration.

You will shape workplace culture, foster employee engagement, and oversee our digital transformation to ensure our people and systems are equipped for the future.

You will mentor and empower three talented Principal-level direct reports and their teams, providing strategic direction and support for their continued growth and success.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring experience as a senior leader, ideally from the public sector or a similarly complex environment and a strong understanding of how the government operates.

You are confident managing a broad range of corporate functions, building trust, and empowering your team to deliver results. A relevant tertiary qualification, such as in law or commerce, or equivalent experience, is desirable.

You are tech-savvy, an adaptive leader and operationally versatile. You thrive in collaborative environments and are recognised for your strategic thinking and insight.
