Financial Controller

About the Role

As our Financial Controller in Amsterdam, you will lead the company’s controlling function—driving financial accuracy, ensuring strong internal controls, and delivering the insights needed for sound decision‑making. You will oversee budgeting, cash flow management, performance analysis, compliance, and the month‑end close, ensuring the integrity of all financial data.

Beyond day‑to‑day operations, you will support audits, evaluate commercial agreements, and partner with leadership to strengthen financial discipline and operational efficiency. This is a full‑time (40‑hour) position, that requires presence in the office 5-days per week, reporting directly to our Global Finance Leader in the U.S.

What You’ll Do

Financial Leadership & Strategy

• Lead the full financial and accounting function for international operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of all financial outputs.
• Partner closely with key leaders to drive strategic decision‑making, operational cost optimization.  Execute strategic plans.
• Provide actionable financial insights to senior leadership, influencing long‑term business strategy and risk mitigation.
• Support development and implementation of global financial policies, internal controls, and best practices.

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Drive variance analysis, key performance, scenario planning, key financial metrics and KPI's.  Prepare and manage the annual budget, monitor financial performance, and deliver regular financial reports and insights to the executive team.
• Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure long‑term financial stability.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and implement cost‑control measures to improve operational efficiency.

Cash Flow & Financial Operations

• Lead cash flow forecasting, planning and treasury coordination.
• Reconcile financial records regularly to ensure accuracy, integrity, and strong financial analysis across all transactions.
• Facilitate the month‑end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Ensure full compliance with IFRS and all financial regulations and reporting requirements, including tax filings, audits, and VAT.

Controls, Compliance & Governance

• Establish and maintain effective internal controls, including processes to prevent duplicate invoice entries, in partnership with the Accounts Payable team.
• Maintain strong internal controls environment; implement corrective actions as needed.
• Maintain oversight of accounting teams and ensure high standards of accuracy, ethics, and performance.

Strategic & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, to support the company’s financial needs.
• Support ERP enhancements, process automation, and continuous improvement projects.

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (RC or RA preferred).
• Proven experience in a financial role, 7 years progressive controller experience required.
• Proven ability to partner with senior executives and influence strategic decisions.
• Familiarity with Dutch GAAP concepts, practices, and procedures within the accounting and finance field, including cost accounting.
• Advanced Excel and ERP system experience; strong analytical and communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Excel, Power BI, Word, Teams and Outlook.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English & Dutch, is required.
