About this role

General Summary of the Position

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Construction & Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This position is ideal for individuals with mid-level mechanical skills and experience working in a mechanic shop or maintaining farming or construction equipment. The role combines responsibilities for equipment maintenance, shop organization, and delivery driving to ensure our fleet of construction equipment is ready to mobilize to job sites safely and efficiently.



Essential Functions



Equipment Maintenance & Documentation

  • Diagnose and repair a wide range of construction and heavy equipment.
  • Inspect and test equipment after repairs are completed.
  • Perform scheduled equipment maintenance per industry standards.
  • Ensure all equipment meets operational safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough documentation and track maintenance time for all tasks.

Driving & Equipment Handling

  • Safely load and unload trucks with construction equipment and materials, including skid steers, excavators, etc.
  • Operate construction equipment proficiently and sagely.
  • Drive equipment and materials to the job site locally and across the country as needed.
  • Follow all DOT regulations, including pre-trip inspections, maintaining all logs and trip records.

 Shop Operations & Organization

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment.
  • Assist with inventory management and ensure tools, materials, and parts are stored securely.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to power washing muddy equipment, greasing equipment, etc. 


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with equipment maintenance, repair, and fabrication.
  • Diesel and heavy equipment experience preferred.
  • Preferred experience loading/unloading materials and equipment.
  • Preferred experience operating various types of construction equipment.
  • Valid CDL Class A license with air brake endorsement and DOT medical card, or willingness to obtain CDL Class A.
  • Ability to travel as needed, on occasion, for a week or longer.
  • OSHA 30-hour safety training certification required.



Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 pounds regularly.
  • Extended periods of walking and standing with excellent stamina.


Work Environment & Travel

  • Primary work location at the Shop facility in Chaska.
  • Regular outdoor work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, rain, wind, dust storms, and other natural weather occurrences.
  • Over-the-road and local driving responsibilities to deliver and/or repair equipment and materials to job sites nationwide.
  • Evening and weekend work may be required, based on business needs.
