Compensation: $18/Hour
Work Hours: Hours may fluctuate – On Average of 10-15 hours per week during peak election period(s).
Location: Hybrid – All Campuses (as needed); Some Remote Work
While this position resides at Progress campus, the incumbent may occasionally be required to work at all campuses and attending virtual meetings
Job Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to act as a coordinator for the Centennial College Student Association Inc. during our annual and bi-annual elections. The Elections Coordinator will be the main student contact for all election issues and will ensure adherence to the elections policies and procedures. The position will also be responsible for promoting elections at all campuses and encourage eligible students to run for vacant positions. While this position resides at Progress campus, the incumbent may occasionally be required to work at all campuses and attending virtual meetings.
The Elections Coordinator has an interest in working in a dynamic, rapidly changing and busy environment. This position requires the incumbent to work effectively and foster cooperative relationships with student leaders as part of a student focused organization.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Promote and recruit students to run for elected positions when they become vacant
- Oversee the election process – including the promotion, nominations and voting on election day
- Oversee the appointment process (where applicable) – including the promotion, application, interview and hiring process
- Work with the Communications Team to prepare promotional materials and events, both physical and virtual, including but not limited to flyers, posters, videos, social media posts, etc.
- Work with staff to promote CCSAI elections
- Verify candidates’ information and packages
- Ensure the elections policies and procedures are strictly adhered to
- Ensure candidates run a fair campaign
- Assist candidates with preparation and answer questions, if asked
- Make decisions in conjunction with Executive Director and Chief Governance Relations Advisor (CGRO) regarding the general management and needs of the election, including disciplining of candidates
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and Chief Governance Relations Advisor (CGRO)

- Experience with policies and procedures and how to apply them
- Previous election experience is a strong asset

Eligibility
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student for the current semester.
- Demonstrate good academic standing.
- Must have a Social Insurance Number (minimum 6 months to expiry).
Availability
- The successful individual will be expected to be readily available during the elections period during regular office hours (Monday-Friday between 9-5PM) and evenings as required.
- During peak elections period you will be expected to work between 10-15 hours per week. Peak elections period is generally between November until March/April.
- During off peak season, you will be expected to be in close communication with the Executive Director and complete any delegated tasks as directed.
- Note: Based on availability, during August, you will work with the outgoing Elections Coordinator to receive a comprehensive training and onboarding. Hours will vary from 1-10 per week during this time.
- Although elections are seasonal, this position will require work and availability year-round to work on policies, election material preparation, consultations, etc.
