Art Director (12-month contract)

Job Title: Art Director

Reports to: Creative Director

Direct Reports: Designer(s) and/or Senior Designer(s)

Full time temporary employee: 12 month maternity coverage with a possibility to extend to 18 months.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Art Director works closely with the Project Manager and Creative Director on the creative approach to Farmboy’s offering. Leading a team of designers, the Art Director is responsible for taking projects from concept through to execution; and communicating with clients as needed. Working with the team, you will spearhead the creation and curation of innovative and compelling art collections.

CORE FUNCTION

· Responsible for setting out creative & curatorial vision of owned projects and ensuring the executed work meets expectations of clients and budget.

· Owns overall conceptual approach and art curation and its alignment with the larger vision and client. Leads the presentation of creative to client and ensures client satisfaction with work by actively selling all concepts and strategies.

· Leads a team of designers, coaching them towards high quality output and efficient execution. Ensures creative packages meet expectations of brief and SOP.

· Sets clear expectations for the team through daily briefing, documenting of clear tasks and direction, reviewing and organizing references and supporting resource planning.

· Considers architecture, interior design, and audience to ensure the artwork collection is incorporated seamlessly into the space.

· Collaborates closely with the Creative Director and peers to have their project work reviewed, and reviews work of fellow ADs. Supports creative team in sharing and developing best practices.

DETAILS OF FUNCTION

· Works closely with the Creative Director, Project Managers, and creative team, and contributes greatly to leading the creative process.

· Works on a wide range of projects, from large-scale art strategies to the development of custom art pieces, to marketing campaigns and assets.

· Owns creative quality for all work outputted for Farmboy Fine Arts.

· Works with the respective Managers and Directors to stay on schedule and within budget and client expectations

· Works with clients directly, when applicable, to educate them on best practices and foster positive working relationships.

· Communicates between department heads with the intention to deliver on promises for projects and increase collaboration.

· Participates in daily scrums, creative team meetings, and other company meetings as necessary.

· All other duties as required and assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Fine Arts, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Architecture, Environmental Design, or a related creative field.

· Senior-level experience within the built environment, with a strong understanding of art, interiors, architecture, and audience experience.

· Proven experience leading creative projects from concept through execution is required, along with experience managing, mentoring, and directing designers or creative team members.

· Confidence presenting creative concepts to clients, providing clear direction to teams, and ensuring work is delivered to a high creative standard while meeting project scope, schedule, and budget expectations.
