SCR Mining and Tunnelling is currently seeking experienced and safety-focused Development Miners to join our underground mining operations team at Bissett, Manitoba. The successful candidates must have the ability to provide field support, drilling and blasting as well as work associated with drift development. The incumbent will operate equipment such as a Long-Tom for development drilling & hand-held pneumatic drills for the purpose of installing ground support. Occasionally, the development miner will operate heavy equipment such as scoop trams and service vehicles.

Job Type

This is a full-time role, on a 2 Weeks On / 2 Weeks Off Rotation

Work Location and Arrangements

This position is for employment in Bissett, Manitoba. Camp accommodation & meals provided.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

As a Development Miner, you will be responsible for the following:

• Follow all established policies, procedures, and best practices as well as industry specific regulations
• Always be physically and mentally fit for work
• Identify unsafe conditions in underground headings 
• Drill holes using hand-held pneumatic drills
• Insert rock bolt following approved method of installation 
• Install other ground support components as required such as welded wire mesh and shotcrete 
• Install or fix existing mine services such as vent tubing and pipes using various lifting equipment such as scissor trucks chain blocks and hand tools 
• Follow directives from shift supervisors to coordinate day to day ground control requirements 
• Assess all excavations and install ground support in development or reconditioned areas as per plan and section as the development progresses 

Qualifications

Essential qualifications include:

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an underground development miner. Experience in a jackleg heading or experience with a Long-Tom would be considered an asset.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions
• Positive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively within a team

Please note that candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application. Employer sponsorship or work permit support is not available for this role.
