About the Role

We are seeking a highly creative and technically skilled (freelance) Accessory Designer specializing in Leather Goods, with a strong focus on bag designs.

The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of leather craftsmanship, industry-standard construction techniques, and manufacturing processes as well as the experience in product development processes.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Concept Development

• Design and lead the development of core and seasonal collections of the Accessories category in alignment with the brand’s identity, overall creative vision and market trends.
• Own the concept development process through moodboards, archive and market research, sketching, technical drawings and spec sheets for sampling and production.
• Research new shapes, materials, hardware, and finishing techniques to drive product innovation.

Material & Component Expertise

• Recommend materials related to design feasibility and be familiar with material functionalities and attributes
• Initiate and lead sustainable capsule projects, incorporating waste or stock fabrics into limited drops.

Product Development & Sourcing

• Oversee all product-related aspects throughout the development process, ensuring consistency and quality.
• Review and adjust prototypes throughout development and construction stages to ensure brand standards and design integrity.

Production Knowledge & Manufacturing Collaboration

• Oversee handovers from design to production, ensuring accurate translation of design details.
• Troubleshoot construction challenges, material inconsistencies, and hardware specifications.

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Work with Merchandising to ensure designs meet assortment strategy and target pricing.
• Align with Marketing and Brand teams to ensure storytelling consistency across campaigns and assets.

Qualifications & Skills

• Degree in Fashion Design or Leather Design, with a specialization in Bags.

• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in luxury or contemporary fashion, with a focus on accessory design.

• Strong technical knowledge of garment construction, materials and hardware

• Excellent sketching, drawing and visual communication skills (hand or digital)
• Passion for craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainable practices.

• Relationships within the factory and supplier network are considered as an advantage.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
