About this role

Mason Preparatory School is an independent Pre K-8th school dedicated to educating the whole child through strong relationships, academic excellence, and an engaging, student-centered learning environment. We are looking for a custodian who will take pride in keeping our building beautiful, clean, and comfortable for students, staff, and visitors. 


Position Details:
Title: Custodian
Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Reports to: Head of School
Schedule: Full-Time; Monday-Friday 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Summer Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00 am - 2:00 pm 


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations
  • Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures, and occupational hazards safety rules
  • Background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to walk, move, and perform repetitive motions for long periods
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, and climb ladders
  • Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Facilities, the Custodian will:

  • Keep the building and grounds clean and in an orderly condition
  • Perform routine maintenance across building and grounds
  • Perform heavy cleaning duties
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, or vacuum floors
  • Gather and empty trash
  • Scrub, sanitize, and supply restrooms
  • Dust furniture, walls, and equipment
  • Clean and polish windows, mirrors, and partitions with cleaning agents
  • Mix cleaning solutions and chemicals in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
  • Notify the Director of Facilities regarding repairs or additions to building operating systems
