Waters Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Heavy Civil team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career in heavy highway, sitework, and civil construction while learning from experienced project managers, superintendents, estimators, and division leadership.

 

At Waters, the Project Engineer plays a critical role in keeping projects organized, supported, and moving forward. This position works closely with project managers and superintendents to help drive scheduling, purchasing, subcontractor coordination, documentation, submittals, cost tracking, and day-to-day communication between the field and office.

What You Will Do

 

  • Support project managers and superintendents in the planning and execution of heavy civil construction projects.
  • Maintain accurate project files, documentation, and correspondence.
  • Manage the flow of purchase orders, subcontracts, submittals, shop drawings, and material certifications.
  • Coordinate timely ordering of materials and scheduling of subcontractors.
  • Update project schedules and help track progress against planned work.
  • Communicate daily with superintendents to support field operations and keep office and field aligned.
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs, cost tracking, requisitions, and payment documentation.
  • Review monthly requisitions with owner representatives and help ensure timely and accurate subcontractor payments.
  • Help organize subcontractor and vendor workflow and follow through on open items.
  • Support project reporting, project controls, and close coordination with the larger operations team

 

Position Overview



We are seeking an individual with strong organizational skills and attentions to details. Experience in the Civil industry preferred, or willingness to learn quickly. Good written and verbal communication skills will make your daily job responsibilities easier to complete; knowledge of project operations, scheduling and field coordination is advised, but can be learned quickly.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and desire to grow, while building a commanding knowledge of the contract documents, specifications and subcontractor/project controls



Mission for the position: We are looking for project engineers that run the day to day field office operations of complex projects ranging from $5M to $100M supporting PMs and Superintendents. We expect this future leader to be capable of learning fast, while working cooperatively with foremen, subcontractors, and client’s representatives.

Salary Range: Based on experience and skill level - $70,000 and above, based on experience and proficiency

Insurance: Premium Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage (100% paid for the individual, 50% for family members)

Bonus Program: Based on individual, company, and division performance

401k and Profit Sharing Plan: Safe harbor 401K profit sharing contribution. One-year vesting period for the profit sharing contribution.
