About this role

Job Overview 
The Project Architect is an experienced, licensed professional responsible for managing the technical execution of complex architectural projects. This role leads the production of construction documents, coordinates consultant efforts, and ensures high-quality deliverables that align with project goals and firm standards. The Project Architect mentors mid-level designers, supports construction administration, and plays a central role in the firm’s technical excellence. 


Key Responsibilities 

Design and Technical Execution 

  • Lead production of design and construction documents for assigned projects. Responsible for the BIM execution of each project.
  • Oversee technical execution, including code compliance, building systems integration, and detailing. Provide technical expertise and problem-solving within architectural projects.
  • Final deliverables need a moderate level of corrections by the project manager or principal before final deliverables are distributed.
  • Provide input on constructability and detailing strategies. 

 

Team Communication and Management 

  • Conduct design and technical reviews; support professional growth within the team. 
  • Develop and oversee teamwork plans and task management. Assists the project manager in the management of tasks, resourcing, and deadlines for projects.
  • Provides project status updates for projects weekly within the project management software 

 

Consultant and Client Coordination

  • Coordinate with consultants and contribute to design meetings and reviews.
  • Able to lead client communications and contribute to presentation materials with assistance.
  • Main point of contact for all project consultants. 
  • Has a strong understanding of the engineering trades' scope of work and required coordination. 

 

Leadership 

  • Champion firm QA/QC processes and documentation standards.
  • Lead training sessions and support firmwide technical initiatives.
  • Participate in detailing the firm's standard details.
  • Attend a minimum of (1) conference a year focusing on continuing education.
  • Participate in mentorship across the design team of 4–6 designers and junior staff, delegating tasks and reviewing work.
  • Developing excellent communication skills, having the ability at times to teach and improve members of the team through the design process. 

 

Construction Administration 

  • Primary point of contact for construction-phase services, including RFI review, submittal review, and field reports.
  • Able to consistently provide site observation reports and visits without supervision or oversight.
  • Assists with the AIA documents utilized in the construction phase. 
  • Experienced in construction administration, delivery software, and processes
  • Able to provide Bulletin, ASI, and construction sketches with moderate review by the project manager or principal 

 

Qualifications 

  • Licensed architect with a professional degree in architecture.
  • 8+ years of experience in architectural practice, with advanced technical proficiency.
  • Leadership in construction document production and consultant coordination.
  • Expertise in Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft/Google Suite tools, and construction administration workflows.
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and team collaboration skills

  1. Billable Utilization (yearly)
    1. Billable utilization is equal to or above 73%
  2. Review time / QA/QC required for management on final deliverables.
    1. The accuracy of the technical & design documentation and the subsequent review is satisfactory to the reviewer. 
  3. Team mentorship and the growth rate of junior staff.
    1. There are notable examples of team members who have benefited directly from mentorship.
  4. On-time, on-budget delivery of project phases.
    1. Examples of multiple successful projects completed within time constraints and deadlines
  5. Construction issues and general contractor/client satisfaction within the construction phase
    1. Number of change orders required throughout project construction
  6. Positive feedback from GC or Client during or after the construction process
