Role Overview:

The Pastry Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality pastries, desserts, baked goods, and specialty items in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards. This role ensures consistency, precision, and adherence to food safety protocols while supporting daily production for restaurants, banquets, and special events. The Pastry Cook maintains organization within the pastry station, assists with inventory, and collaborates closely with the Pastry Chef and broader culinary team.


Main Key Responsibilities:

  • Upholds high standards for the preparation, presentation, and rotation of all pastry and dessert items.
  • Ensures all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards are maintained for yourself, equipment, tools, and workstations.
  • Labels and dates all prepared items and ingredients to ensure proper organization and storage.
  • Assists with producing pastries, breads, cakes, tarts, plated desserts, and specialty items according to recipes and specifications.
  • Prepares bases such as pastry creams, custards, batters, doughs, glazes, fillings, mousses, and syrups as directed.
  • Monitors ingredient levels and communicates shortages or production needs to the Pastry Chef, Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, and Executive Chef.
  • Maintains proper storage techniques and ensures all products meet quality and freshness standards.
  • Supports plating for outlets and banquets ensuring accuracy, consistency, and aesthetic standards.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience in a professional pastry or bakery environment.
  • Knowledge of foundational pastry techniques, including doughs, creams, fillings, chocolate work, and dessert preparation.
  • Food Safety Training.
  • Strong sense of taste and smell.
  • Good memory, precision, and attention to detail.
