Overview: Surespan Construction is seeking a dedicated and versatile Mobile Crane & Yard Equipment Operator to join our team at the Surespan yard in Langley, BC. This hands-on role combines the operation of mobile cranes and other yard equipment with general yard labour, material handling, inventory management, and yard organization. The successful candidate will assist with loading and unloading materials, staging equipment, maintaining an organized yard, and supporting daily yard operations. Key Responsibilities

Mobile Crane & Equipment Operation

• Operate mobile cranes to lift, move, and place materials as required. (160t, 110t crawlers)
• Operate telehandlers, skid steers, and other mobile equipment as required.
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks, trailers, and deliveries.
• Ensure proper rigging and securement of loads in accordance with safety standards.

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections of the crane to ensure safe operation.

• Assist with moving materials and equipment throughout the yard.
  

Yard Operations & Inventory Support

• Prepare and stage equipment and materials for upcoming projects
• Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient yard
• Track, organize, and maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials
• Issue and receive tools and equipment while maintaining accurate records
• Assist with ordering supplies and tracking incoming shipments
• Perform routine inspections of tools and equipment to ensure they remain in good working condition.
  
  

General Yard Labour

• Perform general yard labour and housekeeping duties as required
• Assist with organizing and sorting construction materials and equipment
• Support loading, unloading, and securing materials
• Assist with day-to-day yard activities
• Maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment
• Participate in yard improvement and maintenance projects.
  
  

Qualifications

Required

• Mobile Crane Certification
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record
• Experience operating cranes and heavy equipment
• Ability to use common yard tools, power tools, and yard equipment

• Basic understanding of safety protocols on a work site

• Physically fit and capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
• Good verbal and written English communication skills
• Reliable, punctual, self-motivated, and willing to take initiative
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to perform general yard labour duties in addition to equipment operation
• Mechanical knowledge and welding experience an asset.
  
  

Working Conditions

• Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
• Frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of materials and equipment
• Combination of equipment operation and physical labour throughout the workday
• Required PPE includes work boots and hard hat; additional PPE will be provided as needed.
