Plumbing Journeyman

SUMMARY:  The Journeyman Plumber oversees the installation and assembly of plumbing systems in a construction and job-site environment.  This position is ideal for individuals looking to continue a career in plumbing with the opportunity manage and oversee construction projects of all levels of complexity.    

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

• Valid Journeyman or Master plumbing license in the state of Texas
• Experience in commercial plumbing and the commercial construction environment
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings, plans, and specifications
• Order, track, and manage materials and equipment for assigned project
• Ensure adherence to job specific specs as well as state and local codes
• Ability to solder, braze, thread, solvent weld, mega-press, pro-press, and install crimp fittings
• Test systems after installation to ensure a quality install and setup for inspection
• Ensure pipe sizes, hangers and supports, means and methods are correct for the application

TEAMWORK:

• Willingness to work as part of the installation crew. This isn’t strictly a supervisory role.  We are looking for someone who will do the work and teach the other members of their crew
• Demonstrates and promotes a spirit of cooperation and teamwork throughout the company
• Works collaboratively with supervisors and fellow team members
• Continually looks for ways to improve processes, efficiency, and personal performance

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

• Performs all duties with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction
• Supports Company efforts to meet production schedules and customer requirements
• Communicates professionally with supervisors and team members to resolve issues

SAFETY:

• Follows all Company safety programs and policies
• Uses required PPE at all times when appropriate
• Reports unsafe conditions, accidents, or injuries to the Supervisor or Safety Manager immediately
• Completes all assigned safety training within required timeframes

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position doesn’t have direct reports or hire/fire responsibilities but could serve as a crew lead on a construction project.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Valid Journeyman or Master plumbing license in the state of Texas
• High school diploma or GED
• Willingness to teach plumbing concepts and processes
• Basic math and measuring skills
• Ability to use hand tools safely
• Strong work ethic and reliability
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods
