About this role

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Estimator II is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing plans, specifications, and other documentation. This role works closely with project managers, vendors, and clients to develop competitive bids and support successful project execution.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review project plans, specifications and other documentation to determine scope of work
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for HVAC and plumbing systems and materials
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Create RFIs for any required clarifications. Evaluate response for cost and schedule impacts
  • Review project Addendums for changes
  • Review project schedule and identify risks due to equipment lead times
  • Analyze project for additional risks and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project details
  • Maintain estimating databases and pricing information
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when required
  • Ensure estimates comply with local codes and regulations

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 5 years minimum experience in HVAC and Plumbing estimating
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC and Plumbing construction methods, materials, and building codes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency in administrative software (Building Connected, Procore and MS Office)
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Trimble, Procore, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar)
  • Proficiency in construction schedules and project management processes
  • Proficiency in interacting with suppliers, owners and design teams
  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Science, Engineering, Architecture, or applicable degree program
