About this role
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing plans, specifications, and other documentation. This role works closely with project managers, vendors, and clients to develop competitive bids and support successful project execution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review project plans, specifications and other documentation to determine scope of work
- Perform quantity takeoffs for HVAC and Plumbing systems and materials
- Evaluate bids from suppliers and subcontractors
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors
- Draft RFIs for any required clarifications.
- Review project Addendums for changes
- Review project schedule and identify risks due to equipment lead times
- Provide client with requested Alternate and VE pricing breakouts
- Ensure estimates comply with local codes and regulations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 years minimum experience in construction estimating
- Proficient knowledge construction methods, materials, and building codes
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Proficiency in administrative software (Building Connected, Procore and MS Office)
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Trimble, Procore, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar)
- Understanding of construction schedules and lead times
- Experience interacting with suppliers, Project Mangers and design teams
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously
- Associates Degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience
