Compensation range: $22.12 - $25.28 per hour
Â
The base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. Actual total compensation will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience and qualifications.

Position Summary
Location: Salinas, CA (on-site hybrid)
Hours: Day shift, Monday - FridayÂ
This is an entry-level apprentice position designed to introduce basic design concepts and foundational product knowledge. The Junior Designer I provides support to Designers and Sales personnel by assisting with research, data collection, field verification, and organization of project information.Â

Responsibilities:Â
- Develop basic knowledge of commercial furniture products and systems furnishings.Â
- Conduct basic product research and gather vendor information.Â
- Assist with field verifications and inventories at project sites.Â
- Support preliminary design development by assisting in organizing CAD/CET files.Â
- Maintain project spreadsheets with furniture specification information.Â
- Contact vendors for preliminary pricing and basic product information.Â
- Organize and document project information, including vendor lists.Â
- Create, revise, and plot basic design drawings and floor plans under supervision.Â
- Develop validation packages and spreadsheets with guidance.Â
- Begin learning to specify basic products and finishes.Â
- Responsible for managing assigned tasks and meeting deadlines.Â
- Track and manage time entries daily.Â

Education/ExperienceÂ
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university preferred. Associate’s Arts Degree or equivalent will be considered.Â
- Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) or National Architecture Board (NAB) accreditation preferred.Â

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/CompetenciesÂ
- Strong ambition to grow and expand design career.Â
- Basic knowledge of design principles: texture, color, form, and function.Â
- Beginner proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and MS Office.Â
- Ability to follow instructions and take direction effectively.Â
- Willingness to learn and work collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.Â
- Strong organizational skills with extreme attention to detail.Â
- Ability to manage time effectively and stay within task parameters.Â
- Optimistic and eager to contribute to a team environment.Â

Physical RequirementsÂ
- Seeing, color perception, hearing/listening, clear speech, hand and finger dexterity, and ability to move distances within and between warehouses/offices, ability to get to project sites.Â
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.Â

Working Environment Â
Generally, works in an office environment with moderate noise. Nature of work may require time spent out of the office at client location or other One Workplace offices. Reliable access to transportation required. Periodically works outside and may work around moving objects, dust, and dirt.Â
