LPN / LVN – Oncology
Location: Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, ME
Full-time | Nights | 7p–7a | 12-Hour Shifts
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) provides direct and indirect patient care in a specialized Oncology unit. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), this role supports cancer patient care, symptom management, and treatment support, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and quality outcomes while enhancing the patient experience.
Central Maine Healthcare (CMH), a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine through a network of more than 40 primary and specialty care locations. The system includes Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) in Lewiston, a 250-bed, not-for-profit regional referral hospital that is home to the region's only Cancer Care Center, an orthopedic ambulatory surgery center, and the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute. CMMC also serves as the central Maine base for LifeFlight of Maine, the state's only medical helicopter service.
CMH also includes Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital, two 25-bed critical access hospitals that provide essential care to Maine's rural communities.

Responsibilities
- Provide bedside care for oncology and hematology patients
- Monitor vital signs, symptoms, and treatment side effects (e.g., pain, nausea, fatigue)
- Assist with medication administration, IV therapy, and blood draws
- Support chemotherapy/infusion processes (within scope of practice)
- Collaborate with RNs, physicians, and oncology care teams
- Ensure patient safety, infection control, and protective precautions
- Document care in EMR/EHR systems
- Communicate changes in patient condition promptly
- Provide compassionate support to patients and families
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) required.
3. IV certification and Blood Withdrawal (BW) certification within 90 days of hire date.
4. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
5. Work experience in health care preferred.
