Overview

Process and metallurgical support for heavy section mill products. 

Responsibilities

  • Support daily metallurgical and process control activities within assigned production areas
  • Investigate and resolve quality and process issues using root cause analysis and statistical methods
  • Monitor and improve product characteristics including gauge control, surface quality, flatness, and mechanical properties
  • Assist in developing and optimizing processes, procedures, and equipment performance
  • Conduct trials, experiments, and data analysis to support product development, process improvements and cost reduction initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with quality systems, procedures, and product/process controls
  • Collaborate with operators, maintenance, and support staff to implement sustainable solutions
  • Participate in continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations
  • Provide on-floor coaching and technical guidance to operations teamsSupport operations during off-shift hours or weekends as required in a 24/7 manufacturing environment

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

  • 3+ years of related experience or relevant internship/co-op experience
  • Exposure to heavy industrial or metals manufacturing environments
  • Experience in aluminum flat-rolled products manufacturing
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience

Advanced data analysis, SPC, or process modeling capabilities
