Responsibilities

Purpose of Your Position

Provide physical therapy services to preschool and school age children for a minimum of 45 weekly sessions and conduct physical therapy assessments and evaluations.

  • Provide mandated services to assigned children on caseload in compliance with IEP documents.
  • Participate in meetings and consultations with education staff and the multidisciplinary team concerning the needs of each child as related to his/her mandated services and progress updates.
  • Work effectively with parents, teaching staff and other professionals directly involved in the care and treatment of the child to develop and monitor IEP services.
  • Use accurate assessment skills to perform functional evaluations with reports reflecting current knowledge and evidence-based practices and communicate results effectively in both written and verbal formats.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping and IEP goal tracking documentation as required by SED and Elizabeth Seton Children’s policies for quality assurance and accountability purposes.
  • Responsible for providing input into child’s assistive technology, adaptive equipment, and orthotic appliance needs.
  • Serves as clinical instructor and assists with coordination of affiliation programs as needed for physical therapy students.
  • Actively participate in the creation and implementation of an individual and School wide Professional Development Plan that inspires personal growth and informs clinical practices.
  • Carry out standards for customer service; quality improvement; professional development; environmental, safety and infection control practices; confidentiality, corporate compliance and all other Elizabeth Seton policies and procedures; attend all mandatory in-services to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices in working with students and their families.
  • Perform other tasks to support the operations of the school as assigned by School Administration.

 

 

 

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree; Masters Degree or Doctorate degree
  • NYS PT License
  • NYS PT Certification

Experience

  • New Graduates with Pediatric experience considered
  • Minimum of One (1) year Pediatric PT experience

Employee Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written); good problem-solving skills; strong organizational skills; ability to relate to families and work collaboratively with other agency representatives
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently
  • Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies
  • Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of Elizabeth Seton Children’s which includes a medical and physical examination
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds
  • Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the children’s blood/body fluids
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of children if necessary
  • Must hold valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions:

  • Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area
  • Will be subject to frequent interruptions
  • May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.

Salary Range:

$75,236.22/Yr. To $85,586.22/Yr.
