About this role

Role Overview

The Project Engineer drives the end-to-end delivery of solar PV projects โ€” from confirmation through commissioning โ€” ensuring they are executed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management & Execution
    • Lead the full project lifecycle from project award to handover, covering engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC).
    • Prepare and manage project estimates, budgets, schedules, and execution plans; monitor progress against both financial and timeline targets.
    • Coordinate with project supervisors, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, and inter-departmental teams to ensure aligned delivery.
    • Manage material procurement and subcontracting activities through the ERP system.
  • Stakeholder & Authority Management
    • Liaise with TNB HQ, local authorities, and consulting firms on grid interconnection, meter installation, licensing, and documentation.
    • Coordinate with upper management on project status, key milestones, risks, and changes to approved scope.
    • Establish and maintain working relationships with the O&M team to minimise operational disruption during project execution.
  • Engineering & Design
    • Conduct engineering site surveys for solar PV system installation.
    • Review detailed design drawings and specifications; coordinate with designers on electrical, structural, and mechanical aspects of the solar PV system.
    • Monitor engineering progress against approved budgets and forecasted schedules.
  • Quality, Safety & Commissioning
    • Ensure all parties adhere to established safety and QA/QC programmes throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Establish QA/QC control and commissioning systems with complete documentation.
    • Set up remote monitoring systems and conduct testing and commissioning of the solar PV system.
  • Reporting & Continuous Improvement
    • Prepare and submit accurate, timely progress and status reports throughout the project.
    • Lead risk assessments and actively manage project and business risks.
    • Organise post-mortem reviews to evaluate project outcomes, surface lessons learned, and recommend improvements for future projects.
  • Bachelor degree in electrical engineering or equivalent (Preferably electrical engineering or working related to electrical)
  • Working experience in construction field, TNB or Project management.
  • Experience in handling the multi-disciplinary scopes โ€” including Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical works โ€” will be considered an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in project engineering or a related field, with a focus on solar energy projects. However, we encourage fresh graduates to apply.
  • Strong technical knowledge of solar PV systems and related engineering standards.
  • Proficient in project management tools and software, such as MS Project and AutoCAD.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
