Purpose of the role:

To lead the Quality function in Africa by focussing on creating a diverse Quality function creating an inclusive work environment with growth opportunities.  Create an environment of continuous improvement ensuring that Weir achieves world class quality standards. Drive the reduction of the  Cost of Poor Quality, resulting in improved business profitability.  Deliver world class quality products, resulting in improved customer experience and increased share of wallet.

What you’ll do

  • Leadership: Lead the Africa Quality function by setting strategic direction and inspiring teams to achieve world-class quality standards. You will be responsible for driving a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across multiple sites. 
  • Quality Strategy and Policy: Develop and implement quality policies and strategies aligned with business goals, ensuring compliance with international standards such as ISO 9001. 
  • Quality Performance Management: Monitor and analyze quality metrics regularly to identify trends, address issues proactively, and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality products. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion initiatives that enhance product quality, reduce defects, and optimize processes. You will work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams to embed best practices. 
  • Daily Operations: Oversee daily quality management activities including audits, inspections, and corrective actions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality challenges efficiently.  Assist customers with quality issues affecting their operations.
  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.

What you’ll bring

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field. 
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in quality management and leadership roles within manufacturing environments including foundries, machine shops, rubber manufacturing, and heavy equipment assembly. 
  • In-depth knowledge of international quality standards such as ISO 9001 and quality management systems. 
  • Strong leadership skills.

Nice-to-haves: 

  • Experience leading quality functions in a multinational environment.
