A Senior AppSec Engineer partners closely with engineering and product teams to embed security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC), proactively identify risks, and ensure secure design, development, and deployment of products. Â
This role is based in the Forcepoint Israel office in Tel Aviv and follows a hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days per week working from the office.Â
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
1. Secure SDLC & Design (Shift-left)Â
Lead threat modeling and secure design (SxD) activities Â
Define and enforce secure coding standards (e.g., OWASP Top 10)Â Â
Partner with engineering during architecture and design phases Â
2. Security Testing & ValidationÂ
Perform:Â Â
Code reviews (manual and tool-assisted)Â Â
Static analysis (SAST)Â Â
Dynamic testing (DAST)Â Â
Penetration testing Â
Identify, triage, and validate vulnerabilities Â
Support remediation and verify fixes Â
3. DevSecOps, Automation & AI EnablementÂ
Integrate security tools into CI/CD pipelines Â
Automate scanning, reporting, and ticketing workflows Â
Build tooling to scale AppSec across products Â
Leverage AI/ML capabilities to enhance vulnerability detection, prioritization, and remediation workflows Â
4. Risk Assessment & Vulnerability ManagementÂ
Assess risk, exploitability, and impact Â
Prioritize vulnerabilities and track remediation Â
Maintain security posture visibility across products Â
5. Engineering Partnership, Mentorship & EnablementÂ
Work closely with developers to:Â Â
Explain security findings to both technical and non-technical audienceÂ
Recommend practical and effective fixesÂ
Provide security guidance balancing usability and security, without impacting delivery Â
Deliver training and security awarenessÂ
Provide technical mentorship to engineers and junior AppSec team members Â
6. Security Advocacy & CommunicationÂ
Act as a security champion across R&DÂ Â

Qualifications & SkillsÂ
Core RequirementsÂ
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Security, or equivalent experience Â
5+ years in:Â Â
Application securityÂ
Software engineering with a security focus Â
Technical SkillsÂ
Strong knowledge of:Â Â
Web/application vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10)Â Â
Secure coding practices Â
APIs, microservices, and cloud-native architectures Â
Hands-on experience in threat modeling and architecture reviews Â
Prior software development experience Â
Strong coding skills, preferably, C++ and Java, ability to read, write, and review code effectively Â
Hands-on experience with:Â Â
ASPM, SAST, DAST, and SCA toolsÂ
CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelinesÂ
Advanced experience applying AI Â (e.g., code generation, analysis and exploitation) across secure SDLC and AppSec practices, including evaluating and mitigating security risks such as insecure code suggestions, data leakage, and supply chain exposure.
