Position Summary
The Senior Trade Compliance Specialist plays a key role in supporting export and import compliance across multiple U.S.-based business units within Teledyne Qioptiq Electronic Solutions. This position serves as a trusted advisor to internal teams, helping ensure compliance with U.S. trade regulations while enabling global business operations.
Working closely with business stakeholders and Corporate International Trade Compliance, this role blends hands-on execution with strategic guidance. You will review export activities, advise on regulatory requirements, and help drive consistent, compliant processes across the organization in a highly regulated environment.
Primary Duties:
Review international shipments, orders, and technical data transfers to ensure compliance with ITAR, EAR, and OFAC regulations
Determine export licensing requirements and guide compliant movement of products, technology, and information
Evaluate export scenarios and determine when licensing, restrictions, or escalation is required based on risk and regulatory requirements
Liaison/facilitate and prepare export license applications (e.g., DSP-5, DSP-61,BIS-748P) and support related regulatory filings as needed
Track license approvals, provisos, and conditions, ensuring ongoing compliance and timely reporting
Provide guidance and maintain product classifications and compliance documentation, including export jurisdiction and screening activities
Provide compliance oversight and guidance across multiple U.S. business units, ensuring consistency in processes and decision-making
Advise and partner with business development and cross-functional teams on export and import requirements
Support the development and continuous improvement of compliance procedures, tools, and documentation
Support internal and external audits, including tracking and helping drive closure of corrective actions
Develop and maintain reporting on licensing activity and compliance metrics for key stakeholders
Deliver training and guidance to internal teams on trade compliance requirements and best practices
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Supply Chain, Logistics), or equivalent combination of education and experience
5-10 years of experience in export/trade compliance
Hands-on experience applying ITAR and/or EAR regulations in real-world scenarios
Experience with export licensing processes ( DDTC and/or BIS)
Experience supporting audits, compliance processes, or regulatory reporting
Strong ability to interpret complex regulations and provide practical guidance to the business
Effective communication skills with the ability to work with cross-functional stakeholders
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a regulated environment
Periodic travel required between U.S. sites throughout the year
SAP experience, beneficial
