Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced and proactive Site Supervisor with a strong fire alarm engineering background to oversee and support the delivery of fire alarm servicing, gas suppression systems, and mechanical suppression systems at a key static site in Teesside.Â
This role is ideal for someone who is not only confident leading others but is also technically hands‑on, able to carry out maintenance tasks themselves, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and service delivery.Â
About the RoleÂ
As the Site Supervisor, you will lead a team of on‑site engineers and subcontractors while also completing your own planned and reactive maintenance tasks. You will ensure the effective delivery of all fire detection, gas suppression, and mechanical suppression services across the site.Â
You will be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, routine servicing, fault‑finding, and remedial works on a range of systems, including:Â
Conventional and addressable fire detection systemsÂ
Networked and graphical fire alarm systemsÂ
Gas extinguishing systems (e.g., Argonite, COâ‚‚, Inergen, Novec)Â
Mechanical fire suppression equipment and fire extinguishersÂ
You will act as the primary on‑site point of contact, ensuring smooth operations, strong client relationships, and full compliance with site‑specific safety and quality standards.Â

Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
Leadership & Site ManagementÂ
Lead, support, and coordinate on‑site engineers and subcontractorsÂ
Build strong working relationships with the client and ensure high levels of customer satisfactionÂ
Act as the main point of escalation for technical or operational issuesÂ
Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure all work meets required standardsÂ
Support the coaching, development, and onboarding of engineers and apprenticesÂ
Technical Delivery (Hands‑On)Â
Personally carry out maintenance, servicing, fault‑finding, and repairs on fire alarm systemsÂ
Support and oversee works on gas suppression and mechanical suppression systemsÂ
Perform integrity testing (training provided if required)Â
Assist with estimating, commissioning, and client training where requiredÂ
Identify and communicate remedial works, system deficiencies, and upgrade opportunitiesÂ
Ensure accurate completion of all on‑site documentation, daily work diaries, and service reportsÂ
Technical Delivery (Hands‑On)Â
Personally carry out maintenance, servicing, fault‑finding, and repairs on fire alarm systemsÂ

Safety & ComplianceÂ
Conduct safety and quality audits to ensure compliance with legislation and company standardsÂ
Ensure all engineers follow site‑specific safety and high‑hazard environment requirementsÂ
Promptly identify and report health and safety concerns, near misses, and site hazardsÂ
Attend mandatory training and maintain up‑to‑date certificationsÂ
Ensure full adherence to RAMS, PPE requirements, toolbox talks, van audits, and accident investigationsÂ
Promote a zero‑harm culture and drive continuous improvement in safety performanceÂ
What We’re Looking ForÂ
Essential
Strong experience working with fire detection and fire alarm systems (primary skillset)Â
Experience with gas suppression systemsÂ
Understanding of mechanical fire suppression equipmentÂ
Ability and willingness to carry out hands‑on maintenance and servicingÂ
Previous supervisory or team leadership experienceÂ
Excellent communication and customer service skillsÂ
Ability to inspire, influence, and build strong working relationshipsÂ
Proactive approach to problem‑solving and unexpected situationsÂ
Full UK driving licenseÂ
Flexibility to travel for training when requiredÂ
Strong organisational skills and attention to detailÂ
DesirableÂ
Experience in highly regulated or high‑hazard environmentsÂ
Knowledge of passive fire protectionÂ
Experience coaching or developing engineersÂ
