SUBSTITUTE BUS DRIVER
The “SUBSTITUTE BUS DRIVER” role fills in for Drivers as needed due to planned or unplanned time off and position vacancies as well as occasional shuttle service assistance on evenings or weekends.
Hanover Township, located in Cook County, Illinois, is currently accepting applications to fill a SUBSITITUE BUS DRIVER position for the Department of Aging Services. The Hanover Township Aging Services Bus Drivers are responsible for the transportation of older adults (55+) and people with disabilities (18+) to and from their residences to attend medical and personal appointments.
Hanover Township Aging Services Dial-A-Bus has a fleet of nine vehicles. The curb-to-curb service operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM and Saturdays 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, as well as occasional evenings. Transportation is provided for medical appointments, personal business, grocery shopping, regularly scheduled trips to shopping malls, etc.
This position is non-exempt with a pay rate of $19.00 per hour. Candidates must have a willingness to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license.
- At least two years’ experience in transportation preferred.
- The applicant must pass a physical, background check, drug screen and have a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of the Hanover Township area and experience with older adults is a plus.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Candidates must possess excellent verbal communication skills, ability to read and interpret maps, patience in working with mature adults as well as disabled individuals who may have limitations in hearing, sight, or mobility.
- Must be comfortable operating a tablet utilizing dispatch software.
- Must complete training from PACE within sixty days of hire.
