Summary:

The SVP, Spend Management Account Management is responsible for setting the Spend Business Unit account management strategy, operating model, and performance outcomes across assigned client segments and markets. This role drives growth, client retention and sustained client value through a scalable, high-performing account management organization led through VP, Regional Leaders.

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Market Leadership

  • Define and execute the Spend Business Unit account management strategy across all regions, ensuring alignment with growth, retention, and client value objectives.

  • Establish a scalable operating model that enables consistent delivery of spend management value across diverse client segments.

  • Identify market trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging opportunities to expand the Spend Business Unit growth, market position, and client value offerings.

Leadership of Regional Vice Presidents

  • Lead, coach, and develop VP, Regional Leaders, holding accountability for performance across regions including revenue growth, client retention, and value realization.

  • Establish clear expectations, performance metrics, and governance to ensure consistent execution of strategy across regions.

  • Build a strong leadership pipeline through intentional succession planning and executive development.

Financial & Business Performance

  • Own Spend Business Unit retention, margin performance, and client growth across the account management portfolio.

  • Drive disciplined business planning and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment between Spend Business Unit goals and regional execution.

  • Optimize resource allocation and investment strategies to maximize return for the Spend Business Unit and its clients.

Executive Engagement & Strategic Partnerships

  • Serve as an executive sponsor for the Spend Business Unit’s most strategic client relationships, engaging with C-suite stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and drive long-term value.

  • Support VPs in navigating complex client dynamics, high-stakes negotiations, and large-scale transformation opportunities.

  • Elevate Vizient’s role as a trusted advisor in healthcare supply chain and spend management.

Cross-Functional Alignment & Innovation

  • Partner with product, analytics, sourcing, and performance improvement teams to ensure alignment of capabilities with client needs and market demands.

  • Function as the voice of the customer for the Spend Business Unit, influencing product development, service innovation, and go-to-market strategies that enhance client value and business performance.

  • Drive consistency in how value is defined, measured, and communicated across the organization.

  • Build alignment and consensus across SMBU Sales (Performance Partners), Enterprise Partnership team, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure coordinated client strategies, seamless execution, and achievement of shared business objectives.

  • Partner across sales, operations, product, and support functions to balance competing priorities, influence without direct authority, and drive enterprise-wide decisions that enhance client value and organizational performance.

  • Champion the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled capabilities, to enhance client value, improve organizational effectiveness, and drive innovation across the spend management portfolio.

Analytics, Insights & Value Realization

  • Ensure and maintain Spend Business Unit standards for translating data and analytics into executive-level insights drive action and measurable outcomes.

  • Champion a value-driven culture, where account management teams consistently quantify and communicate financial, clinical, and operational impact.

  • Monitor and elevate performance through data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare supply chain, spend management, or related fields.

  • Considerable experience leading leaders (VP-level and above) in a complex, matrixed, geographically dispersed organization.

  • Proven record of leading a large-scale portfolio, delivering sustained revenue growth, margin improvement, and client retention.

  • Expertise in healthcare supply chain operations and the translation of sourcing and spend strategies into clinical and financial outcomes.

  • Demonstrated success engaging with C-suite executives and influencing large, complex health systems.

  • Demonstrates understanding of AI concepts, tools, risks, and opportunities and applies that knowledge appropriately in work activities.

  • Strong strategic thinking, business judgment, and ability to operate at both strategic and executive levels.

  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and talent development capabilities.

  • Ability to travel regularly and expeditiously throughout the year to meet clients’ needs and timetables.
