We are seeking a highly qualified Virtual Special Education Teacher who is dedicated to providing a superior education for all students! ACCEL Schools uses a cutting-edge 21st-century curriculum, which can be accessed online and through a variety of traditional methods.Ā Ā
The Virtual Special Education Teacher supports the educational and behavioral goals of all students with a focus on students with an Individualized Education Program.Ā
Please note ā while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face to face attendance will beĀ requiredĀ several times per year to support in person state testing and student events.Ā

About the OpportunityĀ
- AssistĀ with the implementation of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for each student servedĀ
- Write IEPsĀ in a timely mannerĀ
- Participate in the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)Ā
- Maintain all student records and files according to federal,Ā stateĀ and local mandatesĀ
- Complete all necessary paperwork within timelines to be compliantĀ
- Complete progress reports asĀ requiredĀ
- Complete all components of all paperworkĀ
- Work 1:1, in small groups or in whole class sessions with studentsĀ
- Administer Transition AssessmentsĀ
- Write lessons plans to accommodate goals in the studentās IEPĀ
- Teach all subjects following the schoolās course of study or as assignedĀ
- Schedule andĀ participateĀ in IEP and other meetings for students with disabilitiesĀ
- Prepare and administer all standardized tests, benchmark assessments and evaluation assessments as directedĀ
- Work with the teaching staff to improve standardized andĀ proficiencyĀ testing resultsĀ
- MaintainĀ confidentiality concerning all student information and any professional mattersĀ
- KeepĀ accurateĀ records on each student such as grade books and progress reports, lesson plans, attendance records, and behavior/discipline recordsĀ
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, psychologists, parents, Administrator, and professionals outside of schoolĀ
- Work with Related Services to keep evaluations current, updated every three yearsĀ
- Provide resources for classroom teachers for areas of disabilityĀ
- Attend professional developments as assignedĀ Ā
About YouĀ
- Mastersā Degree preferredĀ
- Current State certification/licensure inĀ appropriate areaĀ
- Three years of teaching experience, at least 2 of which are in special education preferredĀ
- Strong content knowledge in one or more content areasĀ
- Familiarity with stateĀ proficiencyĀ testing state teaching standardsĀ
- Understanding of and/or willingness to learn the MTSS processĀ
- Prior experience working with a diverse student bodyĀ
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills thatĀ reflect professionalism and tact at all timesĀ
- Genuine care for children and a passion for teachingĀ
- ProficiencyĀ in computer applications, including Google Docs, MS Office Suite, e-mail, and internet applicationsĀ
- Prior experience with software and databases used toĀ maintainĀ Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) compliance including Power School Special ProgramsĀ
- Ability to learnĀ new technologiesĀ andĀ acquireĀ new skills through independent study, professional training, and from more senior team membersĀ
- Strong ability to gather, analyze, and interpret student data to make sound educational decisionsĀ
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly andĀ exhibitĀ sound judgment whileĀ maintainingĀ that confidentialityĀ
- Ability to and willingness to work occasional eveningsĀ
- Valid driverās license and ability to perform occasional local and in-state travelĀ
- Ability to pass federal,Ā stateĀ and local background checksĀ
- Knowledge of co-teaching models and the ability to co-teachĀ
