We are hiring for our Part-Time Direct Support Professional position at our Brooklyn - City Line 1 location.Ā Ā

The ideal candidate for the Direct Support Professional (DSP) position will have an enthusiasm for helping people and be comfortable working with people who require support in activities of daily living such as assisting with showering, toileting, and grooming. Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) work directly with people needing assistance in their home, work, and daily life in varying capacities. The DSPās goal is to help people live their best lives, in a way that they want, by assisting them in the areas/activities that promote independence.Ā Ā

Meeting and demonstrating OPWDD Core CompetenciesĀ Ā
Ensuring health, wellness and safetyĀ Ā
Ensuring appropriate supervision of the people we supportĀ Ā
Understanding when to contact an administrator for supportĀ Ā
Demonstrating a willingness to assist people with ADLsĀ Ā
Transporting and escorting people we support on recreational activities, medical appointment, home visits, etc.Ā Ā
Building Positive relationshipsĀ Ā
Using person first languageĀ Ā
Maintaining a therapeutic environment through a variety of methods: Personal Outcome Measures, Person Centered Thinking, Informed Decision MakingĀ Ā
Ensuring person centered plans are implementedĀ Ā
Completing documentation to ensure compliance and billingĀ Ā
Using foundational Teaching skills (EMOE, Task analysis, essential skills, supports and modifications, etc.Ā Ā
Assisting people with making purchases, as well as safeguard personal allowance funds and any additional funds providedĀ Ā

Education and Experience:Ā Ā
Ability to support people with intellectual/developmental disabilities through patient and compassionate careĀ
Work or life experience with intellectual/developmental disabilities is a plusĀ Ā
Good written and verbal communicationĀ Ā
Basic computer knowledgeĀ Ā
Valid NY State Driver's License is a plusĀ Ā
Tuberculosis test mandatory for most positionsĀ Ā
