The Institute of Business Studies (IBS), from its humble beginning in 1987 as an arm of Nades & Associates primarily providing revision classes for the needs of Papua New Guinea Institute of Accountants (now CPA PNG), has evolved into a private University level Institution over the last 34 years. Today we are in one of the largest business schools in the country and offer degree programs in the fields of Accounting & Finance, Business & Management, Economics & Development Studies, and Information Technology. We also continue to provide study pathways for grade 10 & 11 school leavers including industry accreditations for those seasoned professionals who want to get certified in their field.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:

The Nursing officer will provide professional nursing care to students, staff, and visitors at the university Health Centre, ensuring the well-being and safety of all individuals within the university community. The Officer ensure proper medical response during emergencies, promotes preventive healthcare programs, maintain health records confidentially, and support university health and safety initiatives.

The Nursing Officer is required to stay within or be readily accessible to the campus to provide timely medical assistance and emergency support whenever needed.  


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide clinical nursing care to students, staff and faculty, including assessment, treatment, education and referral.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for all patients. 
  • Organize and participate in health education sessions, workshops, and campaigns to promote health awareness among the university community.
  • Act as a first responder in emergencies within the university, providing immediate care and coordinating with other medical professionals as necessary.
  • Monitor and record patients’ conditions and provide appropriate healthcare guidance.
  • Assist in medical procedures and examinations.
  • Refer patients to specialists or other medical facilities when necessary.
  • Participate in health promotion, education, and prevention programs such as first aid for the university community.
  • Advise on best practices in areas such as nutrition, exercise, stress management and general health.
  • Act as an advocate for the patient, ensuring that their medical, emotional, and holistic needs are met. 
  • Ensure compliance with PNG Health regulations and university policies.
  • Support students with chronic health conditions or disabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with student affairs and services, security, HR and academic departments etc.


Qualification & Experiences

  • Diploma or degree in nursing from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of nursing experience, preferably in an educational or community health setting
  • Current and valid nursing license
  • Proficient word-processing, spreadsheet, and database program skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Well-organized and flexible to respond to shifting priorities.
