As the Supervisor, you will lead a team of Seasonal Hut Rangers based out of Te Anau, providing direction and hands-on support to deliver operational priorities across some of our iconic Great Walks—the Kepler, Milford and Routeburn—contributing to meaningful conservation outcomes in one of Aotearoa’s most renowned landscapes. 

This role is essential to the success of the Te Anau operations. You will play a key role in ensuring the team is well-supported, coordinated, and set up to deliver effectively through the busy season (October – May) 

The position will be focussed on: 

  • Providing supervision and hands-on support in the field, while overseeing day-to-day operations and fostering a positive, collaborative team environment 
  • Leading a large seasonal ranger workforce, ensuring clarity of priorities, strong team cohesion, and high performance during peak delivery periods 
  • Building strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Coordinate and assist with District recruitment  
  • Working with your regional colleagues to ensure integrated delivery of highest priority outcomes for the region

  • Leadership of field-based teams, with experience in supervising, coaching and mentoring, ideally within conservation or similar

  • A strong and proactive communicator and collaborator, you build strong internal and external relationships with ease 
  • Leads by example, setting high personal and professional standards, assumes responsibility and accountability for the success of the team 
  • A strong commitment to safety and mental wellbeing in the workplace 
  • Technologically savvy and able to keep up with changes in the digital space 
  • Delivery-focused and proactive, you’re highly organised and continuously seek opportunities to improve efficiency 
  • Ability to work alongside whānau, hapū, iwi collaboratively and effectively, as well as the community, businesses, and others 
  • Full NZ driver license
