Position Summary
The Purchase Specialist – Bought-Out Components is responsible for strategic and operational procurement of externally sourced components, assemblies, and equipment required for manufacturing mining and mineral processing machinery. The role focuses on supplier management, cost optimization, quality assurance, delivery performance, and ensuring uninterrupted supply to support production and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Sourcing
Manage procurement of bought-out components, assemblies, and equipment from approved suppliers.
Execute RFQs (Request for Quotations), bid analysis, commercial negotiations, and purchase order placement.
Identify and develop new suppliers to improve cost competitiveness and supply reliability.
Support localization and supplier development initiatives.
Supplier Relationship Management
Build and maintain relationships with strategic suppliers.
Monitor supplier performance through KPIs such as:
On-Time Delivery (OTD)
Quality performance (PPM/Rejection Rate)
Cost competitiveness
Responsiveness
Conduct supplier reviews and participate in supplier audits.
Cost Management
Drive cost reduction initiatives through value engineering and strategic sourcing.
Analyze market trends, raw material movements, and supplier cost structures.
Support annual budgeting and cost-saving targets.
Supply Chain & Inventory Management
Ensure material availability to meet production schedules and project timelines.
Collaborate with planning, manufacturing, engineering, and logistics teams.
Monitor inventory levels and optimize working capital.
Manage expediting activities for critical deliveries.
Contract & Compliance Management
Negotiate commercial terms, contracts, and service agreements.
Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, ethical sourcing standards, and regulatory requirements.
Support ESG and sustainability initiatives within the supply base.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with:
Engineering for technical clarifications
Quality for supplier quality issues
Production planning for material requirements
Finance for payment and cost control activities
Participate in new product development and sourcing projects.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
MBA/Specialization in Supply Chain or Procurement preferred.
Experience
3–8 years of procurement experience in:
Mining equipment manufacturing
Heavy engineering
Industrial machinery
Capital equipment manufacturing
Experience handling bought-out items, fabricated parts, castings, forgings, motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, bearings, electricals, and industrial components.
Technical Skills
