The Role & Your Impact
As a Cheese Technical Support & Application Scientist, you will play a critical role in supporting our customers in pasta filata cheese production, while also leading phage analysis and contamination control to safeguard production stability.
You will act as a key technical link between Novonesis and our customers, ensuring the effective application of our cultures and coagulants, supporting new product launches, and helping customers optimize performance, quality, and production continuity. Your work will directly contribute to customer satisfaction and reinforce Novonesis’ leading position in the pasta filata cheese market.
Your Key Responsibilities Include:
Provide professional technical consultation and on-site support to pasta filata cheese manufacturers on the application of cultures and coagulants, including dosage and process optimization
Collaborate with Sales to deliver technical training, product demonstrations, and seminars for customers and internal stakeholders
Collect, analyze, and summarize customer feedback, application cases, and production challenges to drive continuous improvement
Develop and maintain application-related documentation, including guidelines, troubleshooting manuals, and case studies
Conduct application work such as pasta filata baking tests and provide technical guidance to optimize product functionality
Support customers in the application of cultures and coagulants for Enzyme Modified Cheese (EMC) and Enzyme Modified Dairy Ingredients (EMDI) production, focusing on formulation adjustment, process optimization, and quality improvement
Deliver professional phage services, including phage troubleshooting, routine monitoring, and support for secure new product launches
Respond to phage contamination incidents, conduct root cause investigations, and provide actionable solutions to minimize production losses
Provide clear and accurate phage monitoring reports to support safe and stable customer production
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
Master’s degree or above in Dairy Technology, Food Science, Food Engineering, Microbiology, or a related discipline
Hands-on experience in cheese technology; experience with pasta filata cheese is strongly preferred
Experience in technical service, application, product development, or dairy manufacturing support
Strong understanding of pasta filata cheese processing, starter cultures, fermentation behavior, and phage-related risks
Experience with laboratory, pilot, and industrial trials, and the ability to translate technical data into practical recommendations
Strong communication, presentation, and documentation skills
Fluent in English
Willingness to travel for customer support, trials, and plant visits as required
