Job Description

This position is an entry point for the pool of qualified applicants to be selected for anticipated part-time temporary positions working under the guidance of the Texas State Technical College Corporate College. Instructors may be required to develop customized training curriculum and /or provide instruction for workforce development and industrial training clients.

Essential Functions

  • Employee will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community.

  • Develop curriculum for a variety of educational projects including but not limited to continuing education, apprenticeships, contract and industrial training, and other special training projects, as well as international programs.

  • Deliver instruction for a variety of educational projects including but not limited to continuing education, apprenticeships, contract and industrial training, and other special training projects, as well as international programs.

  • Complete documentation including grades, etc., as required by the supervisor.

  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
Educational requirements may vary depending on the specific training topic and workforce program needs. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional education in occupational safety, construction management, transportation operations, or a related field is preferred.

Candidates must have a minimum of two years of relevant industry experience related to the training topic. Relevant experience may include work in:

  • Construction or roadway safety

  • Highway maintenance or inspection

  • Transportation infrastructure operations

  • Work zone traffic control

  • Occupational safety in construction or industrial environments


Candidates must demonstrate practical experience working in or around active roadway work zones and an understanding of hazards associated with highway construction, maintenance activities, and traffic management.

Instructional Experience
Experience delivering workforce training, safety instruction, or on-the-job training for adult learners is preferred. Candidates must be able to effectively communicate safety procedures, demonstrate equipment and processes, and facilitate hands-on training activities.

Preferred certifications include:

  • OSHA 10 Construction

  • OSHA 30 Construction

  • OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer (Construction)

  • Work Zone Safety or Traffic Control certifications (ATSSA or equivalent)
