About this role

Must have credentials and experience that meet the minimum requirements for the position including relevant service in or outside of the University. Not eligible for tenure.

Required Education: Associate degree in a Allied Health related field.

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a healthcare or education-related field.

Required Certifications: Current certification as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent from a recognized accrediting organization such as: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); National Healthcareer Association (NHA); American Medical Technologists (AMT); or the National Phlebotomy Association (NPA).

Required Experience: A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience as a phlebotomist in a clinical, hospital, or laboratory setting. Previous teaching or instructional experience in phlebotomy or related fields is often preferred. This can include classroom instruction, clinical supervision, or training in a professional setting. Must have a thorough understanding of: Venipuncture techniques; Anatomy and physiology; Specimen collection, handling, and processing; Safety protocols, including infection control and OSHA standards; Familiarity with healthcare documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) systems; Strong communication, organizational, and instructional skills; and an ability to develop and deliver engaging lectures, labs, and hands-on training. Must possess a knowledge of and adherence to state and federal regulations, including: CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments); HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act); and Accrediting agency requirements for phlebotomy programs.
 

Primary Responsibilities include: On a part-time basis, fulfill teaching responsibilities of assigned courses for an appointed term ; prepare and deliver curriculum in accordance with university and accreditation standards; supervise and evaluate students’ clinical performance in lab settings or clinical rotations; remain current on advances in phlebotomy practices and integrate them into the curriculum; and maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and performance.

Additional Position Information:

Posted until needs of the School are met for Summer and Fall 2025 semesters.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
